He loved to take family trips to the Canadian wilderness, as well as spend time on Lake Michigan. He loved the Indiana Dunes and made a collection of moths and insects that he and mounted, said his father, Paul Huang. Christopher Huang, 53, of Lafayette and formerly of Valparaiso, died June 18. He was a Valparaiso High School graduate and a 1986 graduate of Purdue University.

He had been a network design engineer for more than 30 years with Verizon in Lafayette. He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Barbara Huang, and their two children. In 1992, the men of the Huang family traveled to Amoy, f*ckien Province, China, to participate in a reunion of four generations the Huang clan. SEDLAK RALEIGH, NC Joseph F. Sedlak, of Raleigh, NC, died at home on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Melinda (Ott) Sedlak. Other survivors include brothers: Frank M. (Josephine) Sedlak of Blue River, WI and John C.

(Shirley Sedlak of Crown Point, IN; sister-in-law, Phyllis Sedlak of Highland, IN; plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank C. and Josephine Sedlak; sister, Margaret (Walter) Rybarski; and brother, Bernard Sedlak. Joseph was born in Uniontown, PA on July 31, 1932 and grew up in Northwest Indiana. He was a Teacher, Pastor, Prison Chaplain, and Counselor.

He spent more than 40 years directing non-profit organizations and founded and directed several National and International development programs in the Washington D.C. area. Joseph published many articles and a memoir, "LIFE HERE OR After moving to North Carolina, he was the Executive Director of the Solar Center at North Carolina State University. No public service is scheduled. He donated his body to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine.

JOSE M. LLANOS PORTAGE, IN Jose M. Llanos, age 55, of Portage, passed away on June 30, 2012. He was born on February 7, 1957 in Sonora, Mexico to Jose and Isabelle Llanos. On July 9, 1977 he married Alice Sanchez, who survives of Portage, IN.

Jose is also survived by his son, Joseph C. (Nicole) Llanos of Portage; daughter, Jennifer L. (Jake) Llanos of Portage; sisters: Terri Egan of Chicago, IL and Sandy (Joe) Dorner of Plainfield IL; six grandchildren: Andrew, Julianna, Alyssa, Annessa, Alexis, and Jakob; mother-in- law, Carmen Sanchez; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jose was preceded in death by his father, Jose M. Llanos; and granddaughter, Ava.

She was married to David Baker, Jr.

on February 8, 1945. He passed away May 28, 2011. They were married for 66 years. Margaret is survived by son, David G. Baker; daughter, Marlene McFarland; son-in-law, Dennis McFarland; five grandchildren: Cheryl Tropsic, Bridget Pawlak, Natalie Murchison, Deanna Martin, and Curt McFarland; eight great grandchildren; beloved nieces: Elaine Carlson, Leanne Clark, Teresa Epley, and Shelia Craigge.

Preceded in death by sisters: Mary Anna Williams, Jan Walters, and Peggy Richardson; brother, Asa B. Thompson; and daughter-in- law, Diane Baker. Margaret was born and raised on a farm in rural Tennessee. She was the eldest of five children. Margaret suffered the loss of her first child, Janice Ann at the age of five months, and precious nephew, Jesse B.

Williams. Margaret worked at H.I.S. and The Bureau of Vital Statistics in Nashville, TN prior to her marriage. Many thanks to the caregivers who helped her children with her care over the past three years, and Dr. Maliakal, and Debbie and Matita.

Private services will be held for the family. JUDITH M. HILL LONGMONT, CO Judith M. Hill of Longmont, CO passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Boulder Community Hospital. She was 69 years old.

Judith was born July 23, 1942 in Hammond, IN to Marlin and Marjorie (Taylor) Bossard. She graduated from TF South High School in Lansing, IL. On October 31, 1964, Judy married David M. Hill in Hammond, IN. They moved to Longmont in 1968.

Judy was a secretary and computer key punch operator for the Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) for over 17 years. She retired in 2002. She was active in Boulder County 4-H for over 30 years with her sons and granddaughters. Judy is remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with her family.

Judy and David enjoyed attending the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas every year, going to Black Hawk and Central City and on fishing trips to Minnesota. She also enjoyed working bingo at the American Legion. Judy is survived by husband, David of Longmont; two sons: Joe (Brandi) Hill of Longmont and Mike (Kemmery) Hill of Firestone; and four granddaughters: Kassi, Jacqi, Alli, and Sammi. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont.

Ceck, 82, of Chesterton passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 in Valparaiso at the VNA Hospice Center. She was born on October 27, 1929 in Highspire, PA to Lawrence and Margaret Lyter Snoddy both of whom preceded her in death. On April 28, 1951 in Steelton PA Greta married Edward Ceck who survives in Chesterton. She is also survived by her daughters: Jean (Michael) Gaulke of Chesterton and Mary (Donald) Gulbransen of Valparaiso; grandchildren: Jill (Chris) Huneryager of Chesterton, Sara (Jim) Hanco*ck of Chesterton, Andrew Gaulke of Chesterton, Teresa Gaulke of Chesterton, Chris Gulbransen of Valparaiso, and Aaron Gulbransen of Griffith; great grandchildren: Deaven, Jordan Paige, Mara, Zachary, Scarlette, Lily and Leif. Preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Mahler.

Greta was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the women's group WELCA, and Lutheran Companions. Her hobbies were cooking, crocheting and reading, which was her passion. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 West 1100 North, Chesterton with Pastor Jane Aicher officiating.

Burial will follow at the Chesterton Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home 525 South 2nd Chesterton and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Friday. MARGARET DEWEY (NEE ROMAN) WHITING, IN Margaret Dewey (nee Roman) 93 of Whiting, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Hammond-Whiting Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert "Doc" Dewey and was preceded in death by her cherished son, Albert L. Dewey, three brothers, Izzy, John (Irene), and Matthew (Nancy) Roman; and two sisters, Marie (Mickey) Sulich and Ann (Al) Doran (Anthony) Forauer. She is survived by her sister, Olga (late Forest) Ready of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

A Liturgy for the Dead will be offered on Saturday, July 7, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at St. Adalbert Church, 121st Street and Indianapolis Whiting, with the Rev. Stephen Muth of St. Mary's Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, Whiting officiating.

Marge Dewey was born on September 26, 1918 in Whiting, Indiana to John and Mary (Germick) Roman and was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1936 and was a member of St. Mary's Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, Whiting, the St.

Mary Altar, Rosary and Sacred Heart Society, the Whiting-Robertsdale Historical Society, American Legion, Whiting Post 80 Women's Auxiliary and the Daughters of Isabella. Marge was the "Great Sports She was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and even had a season ticket, for several years, to the Chicago Blackhawks back at the old Chicago Stadium. Even though she did not drive, she made it to all the games! She loved to play bingo and was an avid bowler, participating in many leagues. Marge supported all things Whiting and the 4th of July was her holiday. She was a dedicated employee of the Whiting News Agency for many years.

Devoted to her family, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. www.baranfh.com (219) 659-4400 RICHARD B. ARCHIE MUNSTER, IN Richard B. Archie, age 82 of Munster, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012. Richard was born in Hibbing, MN to Earl and Marjorie Archie.

He raised three children along with his wife, Jean in Hammond, IN. Richard graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, He worked for Inland Steel, until retirement in 1988, where he held many positions from Engineer to Superintendent and also taught Slide Rule Classes at Purdue University Calumet, for Inland employees as well as Purdue students. Richard was a people person, spending his retirement years doing a variety of things such as managing the Munster Pool, working at the center for Performing Arts and enjoying many hunting and fishing trips to Minnesota. He also found great joy in going to the Minnesota Vikings games and the University of Minnesota sporting events. In his younger years, he was active in many Engineering Societies.

Richard was also involved with the Gavit High School Booster Club and Woodmar Babe Ruth and Little League baseball. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Jean; son, Michael (Susan) Archie of Cedar Lake; daughter, Susan (Dave) Smrekar of Ostego, MN; grandchildren: Patti (Greg) Barnes, Richard J. (Kelly) Archie and Alison Archie; great grandchildren: Nolan and Maddie Archie and Kyle Richard Barnes; sister, Margie Bradley of St. Louis Park, MN; daughter-in-law, Cindy Archie; dear friend and adopted daughter, Linda VanDyke; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his son, Larry Archie.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave. (corner of Main and Kennedy) Schererville with Pastor Mike Gillespie officiating. LOUISE ETHEL GIFFORD KELLEY PLYMOUTH, IN Louise Ethel Gifford Kelley, 89, a Plymouth resident since 2007, passed away at 2:40 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

She had previously lived in the state of Massachusetts, Hobart, IN, Merrillville, IN, Gary, IN and Culver, IN. The daughter of Thomas Albert and Edna Jerome Myrick Gifford, Louise was born on March 12, 1923 in Acushnet, Massachusetts. She was a 1941 graduate of New Bedford High School in Massachusetts. She had furthered her education by taking courses in Bookkeeping. On September 7, 1944, Louise and Robert Jerome Kelley, who were both in the Navy, were united in marriage by a Navy Chaplin in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Robert preceded her in death on May 26, 1971. A U.S. Navy veteran, she repaired aircraft instruments during WWII. Louise enlisted in 1943 and was discharged in 1945. Known as the Candy Lady, she made candy for her children, then had requests from others, which kept her business growing in her home in Merrillville.

Louise also made Miss Indiana's Cardinal outfit, was the seamstress for Andrean High School, in Merrillville, worked at the Avon Post office substation in Merrillville, was a secretary at St. Peter and Paul Church in Merrillville, had been the bookkeeper for Superior Drywall in Valparaiso, and had opened a candy store in Massachusetts. A neighbor once told Louise that she had the "cleanest patched kids in the Louise was a member of the American Legion Post in Valparaiso, and the V.F.W. Post in Culver. She is survived by five daughters and four sons.

Her daughters are: Sister Kathleen Louise Kelley of Plymouth, Marleen (Jack) Baum of Valparaiso, Margaret A. (Donald) Kerr of N. Las Vegas, Jayne E. (Richard) Gifford of E. Freetown, and Mary Fugate of Plymouth.

Her sons are: Robert. J. (Pam) Kelley, Jr. of Columbus, OH, Jerald J. (Tommie) Kelley of Crown Point, John T.

(Bobbett) Kelley of Ft. Wayne, and Raymond J. (Delores) Kelley of Hobart. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a son, Tim Kelley; three sisters: Edna Bastatache, Gladys De Balsi, and Ethyl Dunsmore; and four brothers: Thomas Gifford, Raymond Gifford, Kenneth Gifford, and Lynwood Gifford. Friends may visit with Louise's family from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
