Dagina : Short Film (2022) - https://lnkd.in/dRBYWrtzDirector: Shoneel Yallattikar DOP: Laukik JoshiWriter: Nandini DesaiProducer: Madhuri BhosaleIn October 2022, Assal Marathi, then an emerging YouTube channel, offered me to direct two short scripts, each promising its own cinematic journey. The first, a rom-com, was a comfortable & favourite genre, within my forte. Yet, it was my mother's idea that nudged me towards the second script—a tale weaving together the emotions of three women across generations.Initially hesitant, as I wasn’t sure if I had the emotional maturity that would connect me with the characters. Yet, my mother urged me to step into their shoes, to empathize, to feel what they felt. And that was scary, I was worried of the “No uterus, no opinion” backlash.I had long calls with the writer, Nandini Desai to understand where she came from. I redrafted the script without losing the crux and core that Nandini wanted. Discussions with Sai Tambe, Madhuri, and the extraordinary talents of @Neena, Seema, and Ashwini during reading sessions made me fall for this story and its characters.Shooting went by as any shooting goes. Post-production was a bit of a roller-coaster as we shot the film on the 13th of October and had to release it on the 24th. But we had no option but to pull it off, and we did.As the film started streaming on YouTube, it quietly started gaining attention. People began to talk about it, passing the word around like a gentle breeze. Soon, we started receiving messages filled with praise and appreciation, showing that the film really struck a chord with the audience. What surprised me the most was how it spread beyond our expectations. Mothers shared it with their daughters, friends called me to tell they liked it, and it even found its way into various WhatsApp groups. It was heartwarming to see the film touching so many people in unexpected ways.Ultimately, what began as a simple decision based on my mom's advice turned into something much bigger. I would say it is one of my most popular works to date. Something that I took up because of my mom's judgement, floated off with the help of the nicest women around me, who made sure that I give my best.Cast :Neena Kulkarni,Seema DeshmukhAshwini KasarBackground score: Nishad GolambareEditor/Creative Associate: Aditya RautCreative Consultant: Dnyanesh ZotingCreative Producer: Sai TambeExecutive Producer: Rohan ShahCostume stylist: Kirti JangamMake-up artist: Nehal GandhiHair Dresser : Kiran SinhaSync Sound: Rashi ButteSound Designer : Zameer TamboliSound Mixing Studio: Soundbin,PuneAssistant Directors: neha tathe, Aditya PednekarAssistant Editor: Vishal KalambeDI Studio: Eye FocusDI colourist: Krish MehtaArt Director: Shanti MallipuruStills : Viren AjmeraPublicity: Himanshu BankarSocial Media Promotion: Equalz.digital

Digital Ad: LG HING (Diwali 2018) - https://lnkd.in/d-SRWbTjDIRECTOR: Shoneel YallattikarAGENCY: Impulse DigitalCLIENT: Laljee Godhoo & co.PRODUCT: LG Hing (Asafoetida)Tanvi Chitnis, a friend from my tuition, got in touch to ask if I could do ads.I said YES. (I never did an ad before this) but she asked if I ‘could’.That way, I was introduced to Adwait Joshi from Impulse Digital Marketing Digital, an agency doing mainly social media marketing for top brands in Thane. We analysed the needs of the client and devised what the communication would be. We landed on an interesting idea. Now, getting the real people to testify was a task. Luckily, the agency and a few friends helped out by getting three of them to speak for us. We briefed them on what they had to cover, but we also wanted it to be candid. The shoot was scheduled at four locations, meaning three shiftings within 12 hours. We couldn’t afford multiple units, so we had to plan the shoot meticulously and smartly so that we didn’t extend the shift. But planning things on paper and executing in actuality are two different things altogether. The team let me concentrate on the creative aspect and took over the execution part. The agency people helped us too. Especially my DOPs Laukik and Sumaydh, managed lights and people, to pre-light the next location before we reached there. (Yes, that’s how ideally it is done, but with the budgets approved it was like magic for me how they did it)As I mentioned magic - We could magically finish it without extending our shift. Being my first ad film, I wasn’t aware of the number of revisions the agency can make you do, and then the clients take over and make you re-do a few things. It felt frustrating at that time, but later I learnt that that’s how the drill is.Now the revisions don’t frustrate me that much. :P DOP: Laukik Joshi & Sumaydh GaikwadScript: Shoneel & Adwait JoshiBGM: Nishaad GolambareV.O: Pankaj AthavaleRECORDING STUDIO: RD Music Room, ThaneRECORDIST: Rugved DeshpandeEDITING: ShoneelLINE PRODUCER: Spruha EntertainmentART: Varada NawatheDI COLOURIST: Laukik JoshiMARKETING: Omkar Padwal & Tanvi ChitnisASSOCIATE DIRECTOR: Mohit Ranadive**In this series of limited posts, I'll be sharing my summarized experience and feelings about the projects I've directed. Corporate Film: Apollo Hospital Nasik (2018)DIRECTOR: Shoneel YallattikarPRODUCER: Laukik Joshi (LJ Entertainment)CLIENT: Apollo Hospital Nasik Receiving a call like this is always a delight: 'We are producing a project and would love for you to direct it. Are you available?' My longtime collaborator, DOP, Laukik Joshi, reached out for this opportunity. He was overseeing the production of this AV.The task at hand: Ensure comprehensive coverage of the Nasik branch of Apollo Hospitals. The challenge: I have a medical phobia. Anything remotely related to diseases, hospitals, blood, or symptoms can cause my blood pressure to descend rapidly, leading to fainting spells.I weighed my options. While the monetary compensation wasn't attractive, the prospect of collaborating with friends and enriching my portfolio was to look forward to. Finally, I accepted the offer after disclosing my condition. The shoot was rich - multiple cameras, steady cams, and even a drone. It was a luxury to have such a range of equipment at our disposal, especially at the outset of my career. These were major distractions from the challenge at hand. Shooting within the ICU and pathology labs demanded utmost focus, as even the slightest feeling of dizziness could cause trouble. I relied on my crew to support me whenever I felt unsteady (the steady cams didn’t help there).Three days spent filming inside a hospital felt like a horror story, with the constant fear of fainting looming over me.Surprisingly, post-production proceeded smoother than anticipated, and we wrapped up within 20 days, including client revisions. While the production itself wasn't particularly challenging, it was the internal battle against my phobia that proved to be the true test. Personally, this project holds immense significance for me as I confronted my biggest fear head-on, without experiencing any emergency episodes."DOP: Laukik Joshi & Sumaydh GaikwadScript: Shoneel & Laukik JoshiV.O: Pankaj AthavaleRECORDING STUDIO: RD Music Room, ThaneRECORDIST: Rugved DeshpandeEDITING: ShoneelDRONE PILOT: Prathmesh AnjarlekarVFX: Nitin RaneDI COLOURIST: Laukik JoshiMARKETING: Kaivalya SohaniASSOCIATE DIRECTOR: Mandar Ambre**In this series of limited posts, I'll be sharing my summarized experience and feelings about the projects I've directed. Maruti Suzuki Arena x Shivam AutozoneDIRECTOR: Shoneel YallattikarPRODUCER: A SHO called CinemaCLIENT: Shivam Autozone (Powai)YT CHANNEL: Shivam AutozoneThanks to my college classmate, Mansi Soni, I got this Digital Asset gig. Working on this project was smoother than the usual hurdles in such endeavours. With Tanvi leading the marketing creative from the client side and Mansi acting as the intermediary (almost as a producer), the collaboration flowed seamlessly.Feedback on the initial script draft was prompt, constructive, and could be easily integrated. Budget negotiations were fair, ensuring a comfortable working environment for all parties involved. We shot it in one day and it took a good three weeks for the edits and the reworking drafts. With the client's assistance in selecting the preferred music, a crucial element of the project fell into place effortlessly. And the best part was that the monies were paid on time, highlighting the client’s professionalism and reliability.I'm sharing this experience because it's a reminder that amidst the challenges we often face in our industry, there are projects that bring nothing but smooth sailing and fond memories.DOP: Laukik Josh*tALENT: Anuja PhadkeRECORDING STUDIO: Woodstock Studios, AndheriEDITING: ShoneelVFX: Nitin RaneDI COLOURIST: Laukik JoshiASSOCIATE DIRECTOR: Sushant VaidyaASSISTANT DIRECTOR: Mandar AmbreASSISTANT CAMERAMAN: Pratham RautBGM: Upbeat Flight of Inspiration by AnyStyleX**In this series of limited posts, I'll be sharing my summarized experience and feelings about the projects I've directed. Aukaat Mein Reh : Music Video (2022)DIRECTORS: Shoneel Yallattikar & Prachi ChowghulePRODUCERS: Ashish Joshi, Laukik Joshi, Sumaydh Gaikwad, LINE PRODUCERS: MindcraftzAshish Joshi approached us at Mindcraftz with a song and a vision for its music video. We got excited as we prepared all the necessary presentations to secure funding. After two years of rigorous pitching and rejections, Ashish decided to fund the song himself. Due to prior commitments, I had to step out of the project and in stepped Prachi Chowghule - a director with accolades from film festivals and at one time my associate on Mindcraftz non-fiction venture. Laukik and Milind, leveraging Ashish's investment, meticulously planned the shoot within the allocated budget. This time it was Ashish who used his goodwill to get as many as 17 popular & generous TV personalities to feature in the music video, all without compensation. Our Subject was as strong.Despite my initial absence, fortune favoured me, and I found myself available just two days before the shoot. With open arms, Prachi and the team welcomed me back, generously bestowing the title of co-director alongside Prachi.164 shots in one day - we all still don’t know how we pulled that off in 16 hours.During the fleeting moments of doubt about meeting our goals, we said it out loud - “Coz, we never give up!” And we didn’t.A month later we released it on YouTube. With 17 strong faces, we expected a solid engagement. But even a year later, it struggled to cross 30K views. We analysed and tried to understand the reasons for this and we had no answer.Later, Ashish and I decided to shift strategies opting to mount the project in festivals.THIS decision proved transformative, propelling "Aukaat Mein Reh" to over 27 international festival selections and garnering nearly 20 awards to date.We realised that YouTube was not the place for it to fly
it was meant for bigger achievements. Next time if my efforts won’t give me results, then I’m going to mount them differently; maybe in a different space and hope that I get where I planned to.LYRICS & COMPOSITION: Ashish JoshiMUSIC ARRANGEMENT: Hrishikesh GanganVOCALS: Mugdha Karhade & Ashish JoshiDOP: Laukik JoshiEXECUTIVE PRODUCER: Milind SabnisEDITING & VFX: Chinmay Shivalkar & Tejas SalviDI COLOURIST: Krishna MehtaPROMOS & PUBLICITY DESIGN: Sumaydh GaikwadDA: Sneha DeshmukhFIRST AD: Disha OakSECOND AD: Urbi PalMAKE-UP DESIGNER: Lalit KulkarniCO-PRODUCTION: AbstractSmoke ProductionsRECORDING STUDIO: Audio Arts, ThaneRECORDING ENGINEER: Ganesh Pokale**In this series of limited posts, I'll share my summarized experience and feelings about the projects I've directed. TWJ: Business Internship ProgramDIRECTOR: Shoneel YallattikarPRODUCER: Prasanna KarandikarCLIENT: SAMEER & NEHA NARVEKARYT CHANNEL: TWJLINE PRODUCER: A SHO called CinemaDocumentaries are only somewhat structured before you shoot them. We know the point to put across, we know the intentions but with a loose script and a vision in mind, the final narrative often unfolds in the editing room. When Prasanna reached out to me on August 15th, 2023, with a deadline of September 11th, 2023, I knew we were in for a tornado project. Less than a month to craft, approve, and execute every aspect was a challenge unlike any I'd faced before. I was nervous, but I jumped on it.From concept tweaks to budget fluctuations, internal politics within the client's team, and even losing my chosen DOP just two days before the shoot, it seemed like even if this flew, I might not be able to deliver it in time. In came Ajinkya at the eleventh hour and then the mastermind Prasanna who delicately handled everything on the client’s end, ensuring that I don’t fall short of anything I ask for. And a big shout-out to Sachin Narkhede for a stellar job in his first gig as the Production Head we floated on. The shoots had all the challenges and f**kups that any shoot usually has. The real test came during the post-production phase, with a mere 10 days to deliver the final project.Surprisingly, I found myself pushing the boundaries as an editor and post supervisor, supported by the unwavering dedication of Mandar Sir, Sumaydh, Nishaad, and Chinmay. And finally the talent - Ashish Joshi who was easy breezy on sets. This project not only boosted my confidence in handling tight deadlines but also reaffirmed my passion for storytelling on edits and the power of teamwork in achieving the seemingly impossible. Short Film : Anolkhi (2023)Director: Shoneel YallattikarProducer: Madhuri Bhosale (EmmVeeBee Media)Youtue Channel: Assal MarathiLine Producers: Sumerraj Chaudhari & Pariksh*th Poojari (Giggling Monks Media)This is my latest work that has been released. This is the smallest digital short film of mine since 'Coffee? Coffee!' (2017). In terms of length and production budget. And there is always a learning hidden in everything we do. After 13 years of slow but timelygrowth I had to shift my gears down to how I used to make films when I was 19y/o (I am 32 now). Thankfully my roots and the goodwill earned were strong enough to float this one to be what it is today. Huge shoutout to my dedicated producers who went above and beyond, and to my amazing crew who poured their hearts into this project without expecting much in return. Our heads of departments graciously accepted minimal compensation, while my talented DOP simply asked if he could showcase his work for future gigs. These are not complaints mind you, but rather our achievements, that at times you might be pushed backwards when you least expect it. And then, your experience & the people you've earned along ways, work as your support during that time. In what we had, the crew, HODs, the channel, and the producers all worked together, especially my actors who had zero to minus tantrums to finish the shoot in one day. "Anolkhi" may be small, but it's been a mentally stimulating project.
