Summary

This letter announces four upcoming webinars from Federal Student Aid in the ongoing Wednesday Webinar Series. These live webinars discuss the most recent guidance related to a variety of topics, including both Title IV policy and operational updates. The webinars in the Summer–Fall series will be offered from July through October 2024.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce an additional set of webinars in our Wednesday Webinar Series, a series of live webinars which cover a variety of topics related to the Title IV programs. The webinars provide the most recent guidance from the U.S. Department of Education (the Department) and the office of Federal Student Aid, including statutory and regulatory updates. Operational information and reminders are also shared. Participants are encouraged to ask questions by typing them into the chat during the webinar and a live Q&A session follows each presentation.

Federal Student Aid staff will present the next set of webinars in this series from July–October 2024. More webinars that address topics of interest to the financial aid community will be announced in the future.

You do not need to register for these webinars. Participation will be available on a first come, first-served basis and we can accommodate up to 20,000 attendees in each session.

Refer to the sections below for more information about each webinar, including instructions to add reminders to your calendar for the sessions that you would like to attend.

Wednesday Webinar Series Schedule and Links, Summer–Fall 2024

All sessions are scheduled for 1–2:30 p.m. Eastern time (ET). There may be a difference between your local time and Eastern time. To determine local time and its Eastern time zone equivalent, go to time.gov.

Date/Time: Wednesday, July 10, 2024, 1–2:30 p.m. ET

Under the new Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment (FVT/GE) regulations, schools are required to report student-specific and program-specific information to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS®) annually, beginning July 1, 2024. This webinar provides an overview of the technical and operational details schools need to know to fully comply with the reporting requirements. We will also review your school’s responsibility to review and correct the Completers Lists.

Microsoft Teams Live Link for How to Report FVT/GE Data to NSLDS Webinar, July 10, 2024

Date/Time: Wednesday, July 24, 2024, 1–2:30 p.m. ET

The FUTURE Act and FAFSA Simplification Act provisions around using federal tax information (FTI) and FAFSA® data are complex. This session provides an overview of statutory provisions and changes for using FTI and FAFSA data and examines how they intersect with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). Join us as we discuss the new guidance and answer frequently asked questions.

Microsoft Teams Live Link for FAFSA Data Use in 2024–25 Webinar, July 24, 2024

Date/Time: Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, 1–2:30 p.m. ET

Join us for a high-level overview of recent and relevant guidance from the U.S. Department of Education and Federal Student Aid concerning the proper administration the Title IV programs. Learn about general statutory and regulatory changes, operational updates, and reminders schools need to know.

Date/Time: Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, 1–2:30 p.m. ET

Financial aid administrators must know how to find and navigate various FSA resources to do their jobs effectively. This webinar teaches you how to find information and answers using a variety of resources on the Knowledge Center and elsewhere. The presentation covers “tried and true” resources such as the FSA Handbook as well as newer resources introduced during Better FAFSA, Better Future including the Student Aid Index (SAI) and Pell Grant Eligibility Guide and the FAFSA Specifications Guide.

Adding a Webinar Invitation to Your Calendar

To add an iCalendar invitation to your calendar now, to remind you of the webinar details, follow the instructions below:

  1. Log into the FSA Training Center.

    Note: If you do not have a username and password for the FSA Training Center, select "Create new account" at the bottom of the log-in page and follow the instructions to create a username and password.

  2. Select the “Upcoming Webinars” icon on the home page.

  3. Locate a webinar in the table and select the iCalendar file to download and save the invitation to your calendar. The invitation includes the webinar link. If Outlook is not your default calendar, you may download the iCalendar (.ics) file and then upload it to your system calendar. The table on the Upcoming Webinars page also includes a link to the webinar.

Additional Webinar Resources: Handouts, Recordings, and Transcripts

A PDF handout will be available for download the day before the live webinar in the “Upcoming Webinars” section of the FSA Training Center. Leave behinds, if any, will also be available for download. Once you log in, select the “Upcoming Webinars” icon on the home page and locate the webinar in the table to download the presentation materials.

A recording of the webinar will be posted on the FSA Training Center the day after the live webinar. Once you log in, go to “Recorded Webinars and Training” on the main menu bar, select “Webinars and Training Videos,” and locate the recording in the appropriate category.

A transcript of the webinar will be posted in the same location as the recorded webinar early in the week following the live webinar.
