This week Nivarias is introducing us to the Slingshot to the Stars Origin!
Mysterious lights in the night sky drove your species' quest into space. What secrets will the Quantum Catapult reveal?

Maybe we could reanimate it and send it to work a clerk job? It'd be more useful that way lol.

I do hope they will give it a buff.
How about cheaper gateway construction and activation? The slingshot origin gives a cost reduction to new starbases.

The worst part being, from what we know, Teachers of the Shroud is also a better Galactic Doorstep...
Also, does that mean we'll see a Shooting Star meme revival ?

New origins seem to not be that unique anymore. This is basically galactic doorstep just better. The aquatic origin also was a life seeded start just better.

Not gonna lie, this origin seems a bit broken, balance-wise.

-1 guaranteed habitables is at least some sort of downside. That won't matter much for Lithoids and Machine Intelligences though, who can pretty much colonize whatever planets they find.

I was so sure that this origin wasn't likely to be a catapult in the home system because it's too similar to other origins. I hope galactic doorstep gets some love from the Custodians.

So, the Quantum Catapult does bypass closed borders?
How are you supposed to defend against that? ....or I'm I misunderstanding and they mean 'bypass closed borders to catapult into open border space'?

Gateways that are cheaper and faster to build seems to be the way to make the Origin remotely competitive. Maybe even increase the bonus to the technology, so they can be built earlier

IMO a better version of GD would see you unlock multiple distant systems across the early/mid game. Having an empire that consists of small pockets dotted around the galaxy would be significantly different. It would be an interesting type of game where you boarder many people at once.
The catapult could do that but seems better geared up for fleets. Feels a bit weird that the one-way instant FTL system would be better for making a distributed empire than the two-way.

for what I understood.
you can sling your fleet towards a system , that you have access to .
but since the slingshot is not precise, your fleet may end up in system where they have no access, when this happen, your fleet will go directly missing in action ( like when an empire close it's border when you have a ship in theyr systems.
naturaly, during war, you have access to all the enemy systems , so you can try to slingshot in theyr systems with the only "drawback" that you are not sure where you are going to end up .

Yeah, the key to make it better is the possibility to reach another point of the galaxy early enough to find it empty

I'd like to see this Origin on an empire stuck in something like the L-Cluster.

I want an origin where you start inside the L-cluster , separated from the galaxy till you find a way to open it, or the one outside of it find a way to open it.

Another way to improve the gateway origin is by making the black crown function like an L-gate.
But the black crown leads to a special system outside the normal galaxy (like a system with rogue planets and no sun which is called the great black).
